Mature skin

As we age, our skin also changes. Mature skin is characterised above all by the fact that it can store less moisture – the skin appears thin and cracked. In the course of cell ageing, the skin also loses tension, which gradually causes the first wrinkles to appear, which continue to increase over time.

Features of mature skin

Skin texture

Your skin appears tight and dry.

Skin structure

Your skin shows increasingly rough patches. The lack of elasticity is reflected in the increasing formation of wrinkles.

Complexion

The lack of elasticity makes your complexion look sallow and pale. Age spots and hyperpigmentation further alter your complexion.

Special feature

After the age of 25, the skin begins to age visibly. Preventive measures can slow down the process.

OUR TIPS FOR MATURE SKIN

  • Protect your skin

As cells age, your skin loses its natural protection over the years. UV rays are more damaging to your skin now than when you were younger, so it's important to make sure you always protect yourself. Therefore, in addition to a day cream with an SPF, you should use sun cream every day, especially in the summer.

  • Provide your skin with moisture

As we age, our skin increasingly loses the ability to take care of itself sufficiently. The supply of moisture suffers in particular. To counteract this, your care should above all be moisturising. A good indicator is the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skincare products.

  • Pay attention to your health

As the largest human organ, the skin reacts to unhealthy influences like no other part of the body. So the best way to actively counteract the ageing process is to integrate physical activities into your everyday life. A balanced diet also helps your skin look younger for longer.

The sooner the better – how to care for mature skin

Sooner or later, we all have to literally face the truth of skin ageing. While some people start to show signs of ageing as early as 25, others do not notice a change until they are well into their 40s. Besides genetic predispositions, external influences such as sunbathing, diet or nicotine consumption are crucial factors. To counteract the ageing process, it is advisable to adjust your own care routine when you notice the first signs. Your focus should now be on ingredients like Ectoin and Glycoin to protect the skin from free radicals, retain moisture in the cells and boost tissue renewal. However, the be-all and end-all for mature skin is hyaluronic acid. Sufficient hydration keeps the skin elastic and looking younger for longer.
